Track 8: Crumbs From Your Table

lovecenteredtees

Bono had stated that Crumbs From Your Table was written about the United States and other rich countries give third-world countries only the crumbs from their tables, meaning very little relief in helping these poor nations out of debt. In addition, Bone also made the scriptural reference to the story told in Matthew 15:21-28.

“Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.

And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.

But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.

But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.

But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.

And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.

Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.”

As we continue to go through these days, I feel like this song is important for several reasons. We often look to the world for answers, but really, we need to be partnering with the Trinity for our answers, and then taking those answers and putting them into practice on daily basis. Often, what is being thrown at us from the world on a physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and financial level, it is a system that is bred with fear and an anti-life agenda. Discernment is key is this day and it is truly hard to know what to believe. Thus, it feels like we are either giving crumbs to those we love or either we are the ones who are receiving those crumbs.

I would like to encourage everyone to go to Jesus and receive correction, so we are out of receiving our crumbs from the world, that we are partnering with those people and institutions that are truly building a world that resembles love, and not some type of false love, but one that matches it words and actions and actually produces fruits and life, vs. taking it away. To me, we need to be looking at everything from the perspective does it produce fruit or is it kill, stealing and destroying. Again, this is a matter of perspective at times, and anything can be cherry picked, but we need to start asking some very difficult and clarifying questions and standing up and saying no, when we know things are not right. Had the church done this a few years ago, we would not be where we are at now. People would not be sick and experiencing harsh side effects from something that was purported to save lives. Do your homework, do the research.

We have to stop making excuses for things, and we have to turn up the heat. Do your best to read labels, question what is being given to you, seek alternatives, because if you are not here to take care of your temple, you may not be present to hold up the church, and lead people to Jesus. You maybe part of the plan to keep others from receiving “crumbs” from the fake masters table.

Go to your prayer closet. Ask God who you can begin to show value to in your life. It could be the simplest thing. Perhaps a child in your school needs money added to a lunch ticket. Pay it off. Do it in secret. Perhaps a single mother needs a new bed because she is exhausted from having to work two jobs because the ex will not get his act together and deal with his issues, putting more stress and burden on her to carry the load. Perhaps someone is needing money to fix a car and are doing everything they can, and maybe they need just a small amount to get the car they need. Total how much you spend on coffee a month and give them that money instead. Perhaps that 40 bucks you spend a month gets them their new car. We need to be the ones to take to the fields, because from what I see in the church these days, not all, but a lot, it’s just as much of a circus as it was in the new age and occult. Lets be the ones taking actions and starting to meet the needs of the people and each other. It doesn't have to be grand, it can be simple.

We have board members controlling the finances, editing what can and cannot be side by the pastor, and they really are the modern day pharisees, putting more burdens on people vs. taking them away. I am not going to blame this on every church, but it’s corrupt in some areas. You know who you are and it has to stop. We are at a time where “the crumbs to the church and body has to stop.” Enough is enough. So my suggestion to each member as a body is to ask Jesus what you can do for yourself first, then your home, then your church, community, and if you are to do anything beyond. Let’s start there on our accountability journey.

Enjoy the song!
