Accountability and Discernment:

For today’s blog, I wanted to simply focus on the scripture of John 10:10, specifically that “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

I am asking all of us to look into the concept of accountability with this verse with the gift of discernment with the Holy Spirit. What do I mean by this? If we look at what is happening in the world currently, it is easy to blame God for everything, but in 2 Corinthians 4:4 Paul clearly states “Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.”

This is a profound verse and I am wondering how many of us truly look at this verse and understand who is running the earth. This is why we have to take accountability and turn ourselves into Jesus and our Heavenly Father daily, so they have access to our hearts and transform our minds. Our spirit is born again, but the Word of God transforms our hearts and minds, and in this day and age, what we are all needing in the body and the world, is action and true transformation, not something that will come and quickly fade.

In John 16:33, Jesus stated “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Things will not always be perfect, yet it is our choice and free will to partner with our Father and work on our hearts, and to be the salt of the Earth for others in these times. Accountability starts with time with God in the morning, being in prayer and God’s word, taking care of our Holy physical vessels with the right fuel, supplements, food, exercise, emotions, and medications as necessary. Pursuing our Book of Life Purpose as Psalm 139:16 instructs. Understanding the concepts of spiritual warfare in Jesus name, yet not always being distracted by the evil in the world, yet being prepared like the five virgins with oil in their lamps, prepared.

I don’t see this enough anymore. I know I have been behind and I feel at times guilt and shame for wasting so much time on things that did not matter, and for being involved in the new age and occult. However, all I can do is focus on what Paul states in 2 Timothy 4-8:  “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.”

All any of us can do is partner with the Holy Spirit daily in healing our hearts and walking out our daily paths with Him. For your prayer time this week, I am asking you to ask for discernment on what comes from the thief and what he is taking from your life and where you maybe off in what the church has taught you about your beliefs in God about these matters.

In Matthew 6: 5-7 Jesus instructs us to do the following:  “And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you [b]openly. And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words.”

Jesus came to teach us about His father and that His Father was about Love and Healing. Evaluate things with those lenses and what the word of God teaches and evaluate what is happening on this planet for now. Is it a life giving agenda or is it an anti-life agenda. Ask f

or the Holy Spirit to reveal these things to you in quiet, just as Matthew 6 instructs. You might find that you have a different outlook in terms of what the Holy Spirit reveals.
