As I pray and think about what is happening in the world, the song “Everybody wants to rule the World” by Tears for Fears comes to mind. What continues to come to me in prayer is to ask for discernment in these times and to really ask the Holy Spirit for guidance on what our priorities need to be on a daily basis to help us grow stronger in our faith, and to help us love ourselves, so we can love one another more. We see complete incompetency at every level and every institution in terms of “Everybody wanting to rule the world.”
I know a lot of people that I talk to feel stressed, irritated and worn down. I have felt this way lately, and sometimes we need to quiet ourselves, and get away from the distractions of the world.
All we can do is turn ourselves in daily with the Lord for correction, and ask on how we can be the Light to others and first and foremost, to get ourselves together as much as possible. Again, this isn’t out of perfection, but to truly serve and to be prepared in the times that are ahead of us.
This isn’t about fear. Just ask the Lord of how you can do the best you can daily, to be of love, service, and to get your life in order as much as you can. Finish your race strong!
For those who have never heard the song before, I encourage you to give it a listen, because it certainly does seem to ring a bell during these uncertain times.
