Don't Let Pride Get in the Way with those Special People God has assigned to You!

In this weeks blog, I thought I might stick with the Oasis theme. In the song Champagne Supernova, Noel Gallagher referred to several meanings of the lyrics: The first being “The song questions the value and impact of fame and personal achievements, suggesting a search for deeper meaning. Lyrics like "How many special people change?

How many lives are livin' strange?" hint at the ephemeral nature of fame and the impact of personal experiences. Noel Gallagher has stated the song means different things to him at different times, emphasizing its open-ended interpretation.

As I think about the ever going changes that I continue to go through and the conflicts that we go through in our lives, and what I continue to address with LaRette, it comes down to, are we willing to look within, and let the Holy Spirit refine our hearts on a daily basis.

I think the lyrics that stick out to me the most are the following:

Someday you will find me

Caught beneath the landslide

In a champagne supernova in the sky

Someday you will find me

Caught beneath the landslide

In a champagne supernova

A champagne supernova in the sky

'Cause people believe

That they're gonna get away for the summer

But you and I, we live and die

The world's still spinnin' 'round, we don't know why

Why, why, why, why

That’s always the challenge isn’t it. My new book is the process of getting it’s cover design and what I write about in Accountability 101 is a challenge. I see how much rejection and trauma we often do to one another, and I put myself, as always in this category, and a constant need to clean up our own acts. With these lyrics, I find with myself, others, and the world, we always think that someday, we will get away to address these things or that there will be another time.

I don’t think that is always the case. Sometimes God, gives us warnings along the way and we have to be diligent to walking in the Spirit to hear his voice and to listen. It means being willing to admit when we have been hateful, spiteful, bitter or downright evil, and there has to be a willingness to return to true repentance and to work together in love to truly resolve those patterns and differences. Accountability 101 gives us a road map to doing this, and hearing this song, reminds me of a place I long for in this crazy world.

I look at the supernova as a representation of going to that place of quiet and stillness, to rest with God, putting aside our differences and letting go of that trauma and the devil messing with things that matter to us. This doesn’t mean that we make excuses for how we have harmed those we love or continue to act like arses [I use that in honor of the Gallagher boys], but we become repentant and make true changes.

I find that as LaRette and I reflect on things and our lives, I feel the power of the Lord still working, still refining us, as Iron Sharpens Iron. I reflect on this song as special times with LaRette and as God will continue to refine us both and to restore us down the road.

Enjoy the tune!
